Liverpool player Sadio Mane met with the President of Senegal to present his proposal to build a hospital
Liverpool star Sadio Mane has met with the President of Senegal to present his proposal to build a hospital in his homeland.
The official Twitter account of the Presidency of Senegal showed the Reds player being received by President Macky Sall who has led the government in the west African nation since 2012.
Mane was pictured being greeted by the President and sitting down with him next to the Senegalese flag to discuss his project.
The accompanying message in French translated as: “The footballer Sadio Mane was received this afternoon by the President Macky Sall.
“The Liverpool striker has presented the Head of State with an ambitious plan to build a hospital in Bambali and is counting on the state's support for medical personnel.”
The 29-year-old is hoping to build the health care facility in his home town which is located in the Sedihou Department of the country, on the banks of the Casamance River.
Mane, who netted from the penalty spot in both of Senegal’s friendly internationals at Stade Lat Dior in Thies this week, against Zambia on Saturday and Cape Verde on Tuesday, has long called for improvements in the infrastructure of his country.
Following an electrical power cut in the former fixture last weekend, which caused a 20-minute delay to the start of the second half, the Reds player said: “The Senegalese people deserve better. What happened is deplorable.
